$39 Introductory Fares On New Hawaii Superferry

Hawaii has introduced an alternative to interisland flying. Now you can take the Hawaii Superferry between Oahu and Maui. Their prices are quite reasonable compared to interisland flights and you have the advantage of enjoying the view of the ocean as you travel. They have extended their introductory promotional price of $39 each way for passengers from Oahu to Maui or Maui to Oahu and $55 each way for passenger vehicles which makes it a very attractive alternative to flying. See details below and get more information from Hawaii Superferry

Special Fares Extended

We are happy to announce that we are extending the current promotional $39 one-way passenger fares and $55 one-way passenger vehicle fares for travel through June 5, 2008. Tickets must be purchased by March 31, 2008.

Oahu - Maui or Maui - Oahu
$39 each way for passengers
$55 each way for passenger vehicles

Travel: Now through June 5, 2008
Book: Now through March 31, 2008

Actually the far is much higher than $39 because of the added 39% fuel charge. And if you are bringing your car, add another charge.

Don't forget your dramamine. People report that a high percentage of people get sick on this long, rough ride.

Then you'll be greeted by the Maui people who are taking turns holding protest signs because they don't want the Superferry to speed through the Humpback Whale Sanctuary (Superferry goes 37 knots while all other boats are supposed to go 10 knots to avoid killing whales)

All in all, this is no bargain with airfares as low as $29 interisland.

Thank you for sharing this information. It is helpful for our readers to know about the rough ride and the protesters.

I checked the price again and the price for one adult for a trip from Oahu to Maui on 2/7/2008 was $39 plus $4.46 for taxes and fees for a total of $43.46. Perhaps they reconsidered the 39% fuel tax.
